Design Miami/ is the global forum for design, becoming the main place of collection, exhibition, discussion and creation of collectible designs; in conjunction with the Art Basel fairs in Miami, USA every December and Basel, Switzerland every June, where each exhibition brings together the most influential collectors, gallery owners, designers, curators and critics from all over the world to celebrate the culture and trade of design.
Design Miami/ is more than a design market, where the world's best galleries come together to present museum-quality exhibitions of furniture, lighting, and 21st-century art objects. Each exhibition balances exclusive business opportunities with progressive cultural programming, creating interesting collaborations with designers and design institutions, exhibitions and conferences with luminaries from the world of design, architecture, art and fashion, and unique commissions from the best emerging and established designers and architects in the world.
Among the objects on display this year visitors will find contemporary works, masterpieces of mid-twentieth century furniture, personal exhibitions by famous designers, together with works that intertwine with the rapidly changing planet, in tune with the general theme of the exhibition of Elements: Earth. At the same time, Design Miami/Basel welcomes thirteen Curio presentations, the most important and largest in the history of the fair.
Among the most interesting innovations present we will also find the Facet Bottle by Hella Jongerius present in the Galerie kreo, a collection of ceramic jars that are characterized through chromatic variations from day to night. Patrick Parrish Gallery will present Strata, a new series of Tron Meyer tables and furniture in pigmented concrete and glacial soil from vestfold fjords, Norway. The Future Perfect will bring the latest news from Floris Wubben to its Pressed project, with tables, lamps, vases, chairs, stools, planters and a large-scale chandelier that characterize the surprising beauty of the industrial process. Numerous other solo exhibitions will be present at the fair to support design lovers.
By continuously expanding and enriching its program, Design Miami/ seeks not only to meet the demand for a high-end design fair, but also to broaden awareness of modern and contemporary design, fueling the collectible design market and providing an exciting but accessible destination for both collectors and enthusiasts. An appointment not to be missed that as with each edition will not fail to amaze.
